Shining Star Albany Concert reviews
An epic concert event
What a blast this was! Sitting in the front row next to the stage with my son was a thrill. Despite the excessively loud sound, it was incredibly enjoyable. I skipped the Def Tones performance to preserve my ears. As the white curtain rose, Serj, Daron, and Shavo as Shining Star burst onto the stage, it was pure musical energy and fun from then on. "They're trying to construct a prison," Serj quietly remarked, and the show began. During B.Y.O.B., the crowd on the floor was pumping their arms to the beat. Daron delivered a sharp and crisp performance on Lonely Day and Radio/Video. Serj excelled, with his growls, croons, yells, and melodic rises and falls with his ooh oohs and ah ahs. Hypnotize, Question, Chop Suey were all flawless. By the time Toxicity rolled around, the audience was fully engaged, singing, shouting, and exuding energy. "There's too much disorder," Serj sang, and it was a delightful chaos. I doubt anyone left feeling disappointed (or with intact hearing). Exiting the Allstate Arena parking lot only took thirty minutes. Fantastic experience.
